04 Our story
Three generations. One family oven.
Saleh's began in 1985 in Mafikeng, when Abdulhuck Saleh opened his first bakery with his son Ayub at his side. Today Ayub runs the family business with his wife Nazira and their son, Pastry Chef Muhammad.
Ayub trained as a pastry chef in Coventry and still believes in doing things the right way: French technique, South African favourites and the flavours of every community that has ever shared a table with us. Koesisters beside macarons, Portuguese rolls beside challah.
Featured by food anthropologist Anna Trapido on Radio 702's Weekend Breakfast and in WINE magazine.
